Senior Show Poster

My senior show is next week on May 9th, and I will be showing my work alongside a bunch of super talented ladies.  I collaborated with my friend Stephanie Vecellio on our group's poster.  I did the art (which references things from everyone's work and little inside jokes) and Stephanie did the beautiful type.

Here are the process images and final design!

The cooking idea was the group favorite (we even changed the tentative title of our show for it).

If you're around the area, please join us for the opening reception from 6 - 8pm!

TedMed 2013 Conference Portraits in Action

These are pictures of my portraits being displayed in the main lounge area of TedMed!  Our portraits also appeared in a booklet of speakers as well as on the official TedMed trolley.

TedMed 2013 Conference Portraits

This year, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to make two portraits for the 2013 TedMed conference in Washington D.C.  It was great to work on this huge project with a bunch of other RISD illustration students and professors and I got to learn about some cool projects and people in the medical field.

I drew a portrait for David Agus, a proponent of individualized health care and the founder of Navigenics.

I also made a portrait for Sally Okun, the creator of PatientsLikeMe.  It's a great social network system for patients to share personal experiences with illness, compare symptoms, and treatment methods.

It was definitely an exciting experience.  Many thanks to Robert Brinkerhoff, Fred Lynch, and art director Alexander Isley!

Interior color sketches

I made these color sketches to practice depicting light as well as interiors.  It was a nice exercise and excuse to do something different.

Some pictures of my latest assignments: a movie poster, depicting a phobia, and making an image for a specific band and album.

More 3D Stuff...Modular Architecture!

Here are some shots of my second 3D assignment - to make modular architecture and to import it into Unity.  Exploring the place I made in Unity was really fun.  3D isn't that bad after all, though modeling is still more enjoyable.  We're going to be learning Zbrush next which...after watching the tutorials...still seem a little confusing....but I'm sure it will be fine after getting over the initial learning curve.

Some more editorial prompts

My professional practice class was given a couple of articles from Makeshift magazine to pick to illustrate.  Here are the pieces I did in response to "Purse Parties" and "Celebration"

Although my pieces didn't get chosen in the end to be published, I still had a lot of fun making these images and I do like my final pieces quite a bit!
